Inishbofin and Iyengar Yoga - whats not to love…

Inishbofin - the most beautiful island in Ireland - where the feeling of freedom and ancientness combines with hospitality and warmth from the locals. There is something about Inishbofin that makes you want to come back - to plug into nature and wildness and beauty. Ever since I came here I’ve wanted to come and host a yoga holiday.

So come and join me for an Iyengar Holiday in April - we will do yoga, we will relax and renew, we will enjoy each other and the beauty of this special Island that feels more like Atlantis than anywhere else. Come whatever your ability, flexibility or strength. Completely switching off to normal life Inisbofin allows you to really destress - combined with 3 nourishing and relaxing yoga classes - this weekend is going to be a special and unique event. This weekend is not a retreat per se - no silence and enforced vegetarianism - we relax in whatever way suits you - if you fancy a solitary walk go for it - or a couple of glasses of wine at dinner - its all good and its your weekend.

The yoga happens at the lovely Doonmore Hotel the schedule will be as follows:

We arrive on the Friday last ferry at 8 pm - we will chill out and get settled. On previous holidays guests have come a day earlier or on an earlier ferry - feel free to suit yourself.

First class is Saturday morning 10-12.30 - I’ve had total beginners come along and really enjoy themselves so don’t worry about the level of yoga - yoga is for everyone. ( I’ll probably have an early morning swim if anyone wishes to join me..)

We will have lunch at the big red bus or at the Doonmore - out of this world samosas and crab sandwich…. After we will go for a hike from 2.30 - 4pm embracing the unique and stunning landscape and energy that only Inishbofin can deliver, stunning Atlantic views, heritage and atmosphere - I could go on and on. If you prefer to chill out feel free. We may even hear the corncrake - one of the highlights of Inishboffin.

We will do a more restorative practice in the afternoon - stillness, quietness, contemplation and working with the breath will be our themes - just being on an Island gives us the portal to go inwards and to release from the external world and its constant demands - a much needed antidote to our busy times. Class is from 4.30 to 6 pm.

We will have a 3 course dinner on Saturday night together at the Doonmore Hotel. Vegetarian options are available - some of the best fish cakes you’ll every have are available here.

Sunday morning we will have a classic Iyengar yoga class - 10-12 pm.

We get the ferry at 1 pm - all ready to return home a whole new person.
